About MT Lindsey

Marco (MT) Lindsey is a bay area native that saw the perceived lack of opportunity for the people of color in neighboring communities and created systemized strategies to improve it. As the Chief of Staff of the Berkeley-Haas School of Business, and a member of the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, he utilized his resources and connections from both communities to create viable solutions. When looking at the demographics of Silicon Valley, it is evident that people of color are not well represented.

As a native Oaklander, MT Lindsey knew what people of color are capable of, and he refused to believe that there was a lack of drive, ideas, or the passion to have a career at, or create successful tech companies. A huge reason for the disparity is the lack of access and the lack of information.

Striving for Results

Through strategic collaborations, moderated informative events, and successfully executed hiring forums, Marco T. Lindsey has been closing the gap that has separated people of color from the thriving tech sector.

Many people of color lack the access to the capital necessary to launch their own tech companies. Through broken systems that inherently do not support diversity, many qualified people are being shut out of a market that they could be leading. This same lack of access creates disparities that make it difficult for qualified and educated people of color to have opportunities for careers at thriving tech companies.

There is also a lack of shared information. People of color have great ideas on how to manage systems, how to improve the quality of life, and how to make viable products. What is missing is the knowledge of what to do next with those ideas and capabilities to turn them into profits.

As a graduate of the U.C. Berkeley Executive Education program, MT Lindsey decided to question the status quo and make it his mission to increase access and improve economics for Black and Brown communities.
